Jennifer Rutherford is the president, producer and chief creative of Velocity Media. Velocity Media is a film production, marketing and PR company for entertainment and small businesses. They also strategize social media and brand development, and offer clients the ability to grow with the changing tides of the media driven age through the development of content across a spectrum of platforms.

Rutherford serves the company in a number of ways, some of which include, backbone logistics manager for film production/production supervisor, marketing strategist, PR agent and media manager. She is a writer, social media butterfly and honer of public content, as well as a visionary in the realm of brand development.

Rutherford attended JCA College in Albany for computers, and studied human services at Community College of Vermont. She began her career at Hill Associates in the telecommunications field, and was soon drawn to opportunities that afforded her the ability to make a difference in the lives of at-risk children. Jennifer managed a grant program for juvenile offenders, worked as a state child protective social worker and as an adoption counselor for Lund Family Center. After stepping away from her career as a social worker to raise her family, she has returned to the marketplace building a career in film and media.

How important is it for a small business to develop a strategic plan for financial success and growth?
 
Our biggest challenge has been helping small businesses realize the importance of investing in the development of a strategic road map for success and growth, and helping them become the protagonist of their own change. Interestingly, small businesses often fail to strategize growth, although almost every company desires it.  Many businesses get caught up in the daily to dos and the struggle for survival, which positions small businesses on their heels. Our struggle is to help smaller businesses realize that without the establishment and evaluation of a strategic plan, they find themselves directionless and without the tools to navigate pitfalls and measure progress.
